From the Lame, yet wonderful city of San Antonio.
I explore the topics of cultural identity, Mexican-American heritage, racism in America, the moral dilemmas of technology and the aesthetics and subversive reintegration of folk art into contemporary society through chicano inconography.
More specifically I explore the experience of assimilation and how to extend the dialogue beyond a false dichotomy, of the "us vs. them" fallacy which happens when assimilated populations are confronted with the perceived ‘other’.
Personally these issues of acculturation and liminality are a challenge but artistically these are grounds for great inspiration.
